Why do people work?

In many religions it is customary to eat, that is to do without food. In Muslim cities, for example, Cairo or Algeria, during Ramadan - the ninth month of the Muslim calendar - they do not serve any food during the day. Many Christians refuse certain products during the Great Lent preceding the Holy Week - they reflect on the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ. In Spain, at Holy Week, Christians arrange street processions with crosses and statues of the saints.
