Who built castles and cathedrals?

Kings, queens and rich feudal lords who lived in Europe in the Middle Ages. The first castles were solid wooden reinforcements surrounded by a palisade. Later, they turned into magnificent stone palaces surrounded by magnificent gardens and parks. Their interior decoration impressed with a large number of paintings and sculptures, beautiful furniture. Cathedrals are huge temples built as a rule in large cities by donations of wealthy townspeople - craftsmen and merchants. These majestic architectural buildings were the pride of medieval cities.
